Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 30, 2026
sol is a personal AI tool with personality that you talk to over iMessage. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain.
Who we are
sol is operated by the makers of sol ("sol", "we", "us"). You can reach us anytime at support@heysol.xyz.
What we collect
- Your messages to sol — the texts you send, transcripts of voice notes, and any photos or PDFs you share, so sol can understand and respond.
- What you tell sol about yourself — for example your name, where you're based, your timezone, and preferences. sol remembers these to be more helpful over time.
- Your phone number / iMessage handle — used to send and receive your messages.
- Google Calendar data (only if you connect it) — when you choose to link your calendar, sol can read your events and free/busy and, at your request, create or edit events. This happens only after you explicitly authorize it, and you can disconnect anytime.
How we use it
- To reply to you and provide sol's features — answering questions, remembering you, setting reminders, reading what you send, and managing your calendar when you ask.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the service.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Google user data
sol's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically, Google Calendar data is used only to provide and improve the user-facing calendar features you request. It is not sold, not used for advertising, not used to train generalized AI models, and not shared with others except as needed to provide the feature, with your consent, or as required by law.
Who processes your data
To run sol we rely on a few service providers that process data on our behalf:
- Anthropic — generates sol's replies from your messages.
- LoopMessage — delivers messages over iMessage.
- Google — provides calendar access when you connect it.
- Our hosting and database providers, which store your conversation and settings.
We share only what's needed to provide the service.
Retention & your choices
- We keep your conversation history and what sol has learned about you so it can stay helpful over time.
- You can disconnect Google Calendar at any time, in your Google Account permissions or by asking sol.
- You can request that we delete your data by texting sol or emailing support@heysol.xyz.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your data, including encrypting third-party access tokens (such as your Google Calendar token) at rest. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe.
Age
sol is intended for people 18 and older. It is not directed to anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Safety & responsible design
sol is intentionally built as a helpful tool with personality — not an emotional-support companion or a stand-in for real relationships. It won't validate self-harm, it points you toward real people and professional help when things get heavy, and it keeps firm content limits. sol is not a therapist or crisis service. If you're in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, please contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988 in the US) or, in an emergency, 911. More on why this matters: APA — technology and youth friendships.
Changes
We may update this policy as sol evolves. We'll update the date above when we do.
